"Professor Goddard does not know the relation between action and reaction and the need to have something better than a vacuum against which to react. He seems to lack the basic knowledge ladled out daily in high schools."
--1921 New York Times editorial about Robert Goddard's revolutionary rocket work.

"Correction: It is now definitely established that a rocket can function in a vacuum. The 'Times' regrets the error."
NY Times, July 1969.

Star Party and Perseids Meteor Shower!

Event Date:
Sat, 08/08/2015 - 9:30pm

Join us at Wallisch Homestead, a nice dark sky site, to observe Saturn, double stars, star clusters, constellations, and more with NJAG member telescopes.

We will also be searching for meteors from the Perseid Meteor Shower! To view the Perseids, you may want to bring a blanket or reclining chair to comfortably get a good view of the sky. Click "more" below for additional info.

Observing begins at 9:30pm, but the Friends of Wallisch Homestead will be showing movies between 8-9:30pm. Join us any time!

Wallisch Homestead is located at 65 Lincoln Avenue, West Milford, NJ 07480. When you're on Lincoln Ave, keep an eye out for a large barn near the road. Park along the driveway or the road.
