"Professor Goddard does not know the relation between action and reaction and the need to have something better than a vacuum against which to react. He seems to lack the basic knowledge ladled out daily in high schools."
--1921 New York Times editorial about Robert Goddard's revolutionary rocket work.

"Correction: It is now definitely established that a rocket can function in a vacuum. The 'Times' regrets the error."
NY Times, July 1969.

Adirondack Astronomy RetreatAdirondack Astronomy Retreat 2023

Are you ready for some summer stargazing? Join us under the dark skies of the North Country!  The deadline for this event is coming up on July 1 but there is still room in Retreat #2 (July 20-23).

The David and Wendee Levy Adirondack Astronomy Retreat (AAR) has been a welcome summertime getaway since 2004. Astronomy presentations take place in the afternoons, then after a beautiful sunset over the pond, this site in Upper New York State offers stargazing and imaging under dark skies (Bortle Class 3).

The event is held at the Twin Valleys Outdoor Education Center in Lewis, New York.

Come share the sky with us! The admission fee includes all meals and the deadline for registration is July 1. For details, prices and online registration form see:
