Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people

It has been said the Moon is at its' closest !

Recently the talk has been just how close the Moon would be this week, some saying the closest ever!

On the way to work this morning I drove onto Route 78 East from 287 North at which time I looked up, hold and behold there was a cloudy sky and right above me was a very large opening.   The clouds were like snow drifts, rough and wavy.  This "hole in the cloud" reminded me of Mare Imbrium as it appeared round, seeminly mountainous with a large flat surface in the center.   It not only reminded me of the Moon, but this is the time when the Moon was suppose to be closest to the Earth......... was it really that close?  No.

In reality it may be close, but never as predicted like the images found in many magazines.   When the Moon is close to the horizon it then appears to be much larger with the horizon, buildings and trees providing the illusion.  Once the Moon rises high in the sky then and only then will its real size appear natural.
