The forces of rotation caused red hot masses of stones to be torn away from the Earth and to be thrown into the ether, and this is the origin of the stars.

Celestron FirstScope Telescope

I purchased this telescope from BJ's just to see for myself how good it was.  It was cheap.  The sale price I got with a coupon was $40.  The scope comes with a dobsonian mount that is pretty good, but a bit lightweight.  That's suppose to be a selling point according to Celestron.  It moved very smoothly.  The scope comes with two Huygen eyepieces 4mm and 20mm or 75X and 15X.  I used both and at low power I had no problem, but the eyepieces are usually the weak spot of any telescope at that price.  I used my own 12mm plossl, 7.4mm Teleview and a 18mm orthoscopic and found the scope did much better.

At high magnification, there was a hallow or coma.  You could see the airy disk.  I focused in on Jupiter and clearly saw the four moons, but the bands I didn't see.  Maybe I should have waited a bit, but that hallow did it in for me.

I saw M31 Andromeda, but I found it with luck.  The scope doesn't come with a finderscope.  It would have been much easier if it came with a 1x bracket type.  You know the type, a piece of sheet metal stamped with ring on either side for at least aligning the scope.  The mounting bracket is there, but you can order this extra stuff from Celestron.

I do want to see the moon with this.  All I wanted was a cheap no worry scope to keep in the porch.  My homemade copier lense scope is pretty bad compared to this scope.  This is a big improvement.
